WEEKLY

CYCLE TRAINING

20 MayIvan
27 MayAnnette
3 JuneAlec

Each week, one of the regular club members will organise the cycle route, support new folk and make sure there's a good environment in which to develop.

The plan will be posted on the forum beforehand so please check that out. No one will be left behind, and it's a perfect opportunity to work out your level, buddy up with more experienced cyclists and get those miles under your belt.

At the moment the routes are around 25 - 30 miles and that will increase during the season. You must wear a cycle helmet, come prepared for the weather and bring food and drink to keep your energy levels up.

LATEST UPDATES

CONGRATULATIONS JOHANNA

On 12 May Johanna and Jerry headed northwards to compete in the Bealach Beag cycle race - a 43.8 mile event with the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k).  There's no doubt that Jerry and Johanna are one of Perth Tri's toughest couples as they always take on those exceptional events with added difficulty and danger.

Johanna's race report is a great read and details her thoughts and feelings as she worked hard the whole way.  Not surprisingly she triumphed as 1st lady home in a time of

3 hrs 28 mins 14 secs, under her target time of 3.30.  Congratulations also to Jerry who finished 9 minutes earlier and was waiting with tissues at the finishing line for those celebratory tears.  Johanna we are all proud of you girl!! - a well earned 1st place.

WELL DONE STORMY WEATHER RACERS

Hands up everyone who wants some warmth and sunshine!!!! As each event draws nearer there is the expectation of warmer weather but despite that we seem to be racing in cold, windy, hail and overall wintery conditions.  Those competing in Bishpbriggs Tri and The Caledonian Etape on 19 May can probably tell us a good few weather stories as the weather warnings came flying at us quicker than Alec or Ken with the wind behind them

(now that's quick!!)

Congratulations to all who have survived the May events so far and hopefully we can put the winter clothes away soon.  Aberfeldy is now operating a waiting list - looks like a great Perth Tri turn out with 15 of us on the sign up list.

Good Job supporting our local event.

WELCOME COACH DEK

We are delighted to have our new coach Dek at the helm and we want to say a BIG thank you to him for organising our recent swim time trial at Kilgraston.  Loads of work by Dek, his good lady Ange, Trudy and Rab who all acted as time keepers and lane judges.  One question though Dek .......... what's with the hand to the right of the photo?

Swim

Swim training and coaching takes place between 8pm and 9pm each Monday and Wednesday at Kilgraston School, Bridge of Earn. The cost is £60 per year (direct debit arrangements). Non members are welcome - £5 per session for up to 4 sessions before making a decision to join the club. It is £60 irrespective of when you join until November when swimmers are welcome to pay as you go for the remainder of the year

The pool is located at the back of the school.Enter the school grounds via the main entrance in Bridge of Earn. Follow the driveway past the main building and round to the back of the School. There is parking space in front of the pool.
You must be able to swim at least 2 lengths of front crawl to take advantage of coaching.

Cycle

We try to meet at 10am each Sunday morning at South Inch Car Park, Perth HOWEVER, this is flexible and before meeting up it is essential to check the forum. The club change cycle training dates and times to meet forthcoming events. There are mid week hill sessions, Saturday rides, all ladies cycle training etc. Due to the flexibility of this it is essential that you keep a good eye on the forum. This is a free session.

Run

Although the run sessions are each Thursday the timing of them is flexible so please check theFORUM and facebook for details of times and locations. Our reduction in coaching means this will be organised on a rota basis. The sessions will generally be for an hour some time between6pm and 8pm.

Additional Training

The above details our formal training days, however a substantial portion of training is informal and arranged by members in discussion on our forum. You'll find groups will arrange ad-hoc training, runs, training at 50m Stirling pool for example, open water sessions, hill bike sessions - that sort of thing
